INTRODUCING: HOLLYWOOD EXTINCTION EVENT
uring the next few weeks, I’m turning over this space to a series of stories about a director and an Uber driver. The stories are a record of their rides together as they talk about how the dream of Hollywood ended. The Uber driver says he knows why. The director wants to find out what the driver knows. The stories are based on real conversations I’ve heard.
The driver is in a position to have some solid information. Before he started driving for Uber, he worked for years as a sound recordist on features and documentaries with many big-name directors and actors. He is talented and plugged in enough to get work with A-listers. This makes the director ask him, “Why are you driving an Uber?”
You’ll find the driver’s answer to be strange, intriguing, and a little off the wall.
The stories roll out here on Bluesky. I'm using @offprint.app as my publication platform.
The stories are short, designed to be read on a few screens. They connect, one to the next, so for Best Entertainment Results, read them in order. If you're reading this on my 500 Words publication, you'll find them all in the order they were posted. So, if you missed one or two stories, this is a good place to catch up. They will all be numbered to make your navigation easy.
AWARD-WINNING AUTHOR
In other news, my novel LIBERATION won an award at the Los Angeles Festival of Books. I’ll be at an awards ceremony later this month and I will give a short acceptance speech. If I don’t go too far off script, I will post a video or photos.
That’s it for this edition of 500 Words! Look for the series of stories called HOLLYWOOD EXTINCTION EVENT.
Thanks for reading,
Lee
