I use Handbrake for converting my WAV video files to MP4

andBrake is a open-source tool, built by volunteers, for converting video from nearly any format to a selection of modern, widely supported codecs. I use it to easily get photos from my Apple Photos library into MP4 format for easier sharing.
I take a lot of short videos with my iPhone. I usually do my sharing via my desktop Mac, not my iPhone, because it's easier to check over photos and videos on a big screen ("yikes, I don't want my postal code showing in that photo" etc).
Up to recently, my process with videos has been this:
- Look for the video in Apple Photos. I keep meaning to learn how to use Lightroom properly, but never seem to have the time.
- Export the video to somewhere on my hard drive. It exports as a MOV file, which I've found sometimes causes issues on certain platforms when I try to share.
- Open Adobe Premiere Pro, import the file, export to MP4. Major overkill, I know! So I finally decided to take the time to research a better solution.
After doing some research, I discovered HandBrake. Now my process is:
- Drag video from Apple Photos to my desktop.
- Import it into HandBrake, export it to MP4.
There is updated documentation, but I figured it out quickly without reading docs (but I'm also vaguely familiar with Adobe Media Encoder, which helped).
