Sometimes it's better to be kind than prove I'm right

On being kind to yourself as well to the other person

here are circumstances sometimes when I have a minor disagreement with someone about something that is insignificant in the grand scheme of things, like someone insisting I didn't tell them something when I'm convinced I did. And when I try to be benevolent and suggest that perhaps both of us are misremembering and let's just move on, the person will say something like "That's okay that you forgot, I understand. Yes, let's move on."

At that point, I used to be SO tempted to not let it go.

But though it's still a struggle sometimes, I've learned that I need to move on, and this is an act of kindness.

Kindness to the other individual, who may be much more invested in being RIGHT for personal reasons I may not be aware of. Plus who knows? They may be right and I might be misremembering.

Kindness to myself, because I will be better off putting that time and energy elsewhere.

I don't always have to prove that I'm right. Sometimes, at least for me, it's more important to be kind.
