e really enjoy the pizza oven in our garden. And so do the friends who come over for dinner. We use the pizza oven for roasting vegetables and meat, basically everything you normally do on a BBQ. But pizza is still the crowd-pleaser. So what to do when a guest can’t eat gluten and is vegan? I decided to take on the challenge and see if I can make vegan gluten free pizza.

Making gluten-free pizza dough I have done before. The gluten free pizza flour from Caputo is a great product. Although the dough will never be as stretchy as regular dough, it makes a pretty good pizza dough.

A pizza night is not complete without a Pizza Margarita. So I was looking for a vegetarian mozzarella. I recently made a vegetarian mozzarella myself, but although the structure was nice, the taste was too much coconut. The one I found based on cashew nuts was fine. A pleasant surprise was the vegan ricotta. The topping of the ricotta spinach pizza was hard to distinguish from an original one.

The vegan salami and beef worked well in the super hot pizza oven, and allowed us to bake a good variety of pizzas. Overall I was happy with results. Definitely not a replacement for the regular pizza, but absolutely great when hosting people who do not eat gluten or are vegan.
