Bassist Dwayne Dolphin keeps the grooves dug deep on this album of originals and jazzers with Antonio Croes/p, Dr. James Moore/tp, Scott Boni/sss, George Heid III/dr and Victor Provost/steelpan. Dolphin dances with Croes on the hip hugger read of “St Thomas” while his electric bass is funky as all out on a rich read of the usually mellow “Autumn Leaves” with some fun voices on the churchy street fest of “Snooky & Ricky”. Bonisurf rides the rivulet on “Perdidio” and Croes is soulful on the dep “Phases”. These guys get it, and get it on.
