Eurovision Asia Voting Mechanics Explained

Eurovision has finally come to Asia after almost two decades of waiting! However, for many Asians, the Eurovision voting system is new and might be confusing. In this post, I will try to explain how it works so Asian fans can plan carefully.

The rules

The voters

1. Voting is only done online via eurovisionasia.com/vote. Login with a Google, Apple, or Privy account.
2. Each voter gets 8 free votes, and can optionally purchase 1 set of 10 extra votes.
3. Voters from participating countries cannot self-vote. But voters from non-participating countries can vote for anyone (their votes are collected together as "Rest of the World" or "ROW").
4. Each voter must vote for at least 3 participating countries.
5. Votes are tallied per participating country, plus ROW. Let's call these tallies a scorecard.

The points system

1. The scorecards are converted into points based on rankings:
   • Top 1: 12 points
   • Top 2: 10 points
   • Top 3: 8 points
   • Top 4–10: 7 points to 1 point
     • Top 11+ will not receive any points
2. These points are then added with the rest of the scorecards.
3. The grand total makes up 50% of the participant's score, with the remaining 50% from the invited judges.

A fair warning: What is not allowed

• The use of bots, scripts, macros, automatid systems, VPNs, or proxies to circumvent the rules.
• Voting through multiple accounts or using someone else's profile.
• Buying, selling, exchanging, organizing coordinated voting activities.

If any voting activities are found to violate Eurovision Asia's rules, such votes are deemed invalid. If those votes were from a purchased set of extra votes, the organizers reserve the right to decide if it will be refunded or not.
