Fable comes to the rescue
ast week, I finally resolved an issue with my AT-proto personal data server that I faced since more than a month.
It started when I tried to move my PDS from Bluesky to Eurosky where a bug in Eurosky’s migration tool left my account in a limbo,a deleted in fact; but with a backup and a recovery key.
I started self hosting and could recover my data but wasn’t able to replace/sign new rotation keys using the recovery token. But then, I thought maybe Fable could help me out. And it actually did, 10 mins and €2 later, I had my account completely recovered.
Talking to new exceptional models, even though token pricing is not something I am willing to pay for any model, perhaps I can try the chatgpt subscription again after nearly 2 years. The rave reviews of GPT 5.6 are very convincing, and I can actually make use of it at the moment.
Book I want to read
The Daughters’ War, by Christopher Buehlman
https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/195790571-the-daughters-war
I read ‘Between Two Fires’ by the author earlier this year and could not stop turning the pages. This will be next from him in my list.
Interesting reads and watches
- Snail’s Teeth beats Spider Silk as nature’s strongest material
- Meta is being incredibly sketchy… Zuck wants the photos in your camera roll, uploads are not enough.
- The richest country is pretty mid now The title in my opinion is underselling what this video really is. It is an excellent essay about the state of economy, capitalism and where we are going as a civilisation.
A project I discovered
Beszel is a lightweight server monitoring platform that includes Docker statistics, historical data, and alert functions.

I installed this on both my VPSs yesterday and the client/hub setup is pretty good. Here is a screenshot.

That’s all for today. I am visiting the LocalFirst Conference this week. Hopefully, I’ll bring some news from there next week.
