more thoughts re: fandom space of our own

Probably the most important part: how do you pay for a place for transformative fandom to hang out, a place that's open source and not owned by freaks (Twitter, Threads, honestly I don't know if Tumblr's owned by an asshole but didn't they fire a lot of staff?) ?

Because, again, transformative fandom probably isn't gonna pay you. Let's be real, users of all sites don't want to pay you. Pckt is beautiful! I love it! It is highly unlikely I will ever pay for Pckt. Even if I wasn't currently jobless. Putting me aside, the majority of transformative fandom is women, and even in 20fucking26, cis women make 81 cents to every dollar a cis man makes . 70 cents if you're a trans man, non-binary, genderfluid, two-spirit, etc. 60 cents if you're a trans woman.

So basically, you'd have to make this thing a non-profit, and you'd have to make it so fun to use, easy to use and indispensable that people that don't have much to donate will still donate, like AO3.

This sounds pretty doomy, but idk. I feel like it's still possible. Somehow. I just don't have the know-how to build it. But maybe someone here does. Or someone in the furry community? You guys make a lotta things! Idk! It'd just be nice to create something fun and cute and compelling enough to wean everybody off X. Y/N?
