Ratioed
began this social art experiment in June 2025 and have “performed” it periodically since. My intent was to explore what it would look like to use a social media post as a medium for art (not for sharing art).
Because I used Bluesky, the social data underlying this art project is easy to track and analyze due to it being on an open network. That being said, I do not use scripts or automations during each piece to detect the first “like” with exactness. Instead, I monitor for incoming likes manually by continuously refreshing the page until I see a like come through. Many times someone likes a post by accident and immediately unlikes it, but it’s too late because I’ve seen it.
Everyone who engages with each piece is a participant in the art. It’s collaborative, involves a lot of luck, and some ad hoc coordination amongst strangers all over the world.

A score measuring the potential reach a piece had based on the social graphs of all the participants, weighted by engagement type. A repost or quote counts as a whole following, a reply a tenth, a like a fiftieth.
