July Game Reviews – July 2026
As mentioned in my podcast last week, here's just a short couple of sentences about some of the games I played this month!
n this month’s Life in the Bear Cave Podcast episode, I mentioned that I was going to do a short review on some if not all of the games that I played this month, July 2026. If you haven’t watched the podcast, you can watch it on YouTube or listen anywhere you listen to podcasts! (and watch it on Spotify, as shown below)
Parappa the Rapper
I’ve been wanting to play this game for years, so having the ability to finally play it was exciting to me. I booted up the game and honestly I knew the songs by years of being on the internet but being able to play the games is a whole different experience. It took me a while to figure out the timing of the game, but I was able to play each round at least twice (because I would fail the first time….but that’s okay!)
The writing is hilarious and the fact there’s a whole level devoted to trying to get to the toilet. There’s also another level about driving.
I GOTTA BELIEVE!

Rating: 5 out of 5.Star Fox (Switch)
So I like Star Fox 64. I think everyone knows this at this point. So when I got this game and knew it was basically Star Fox 64, I was excited to play it. The game was basically Star Fox 64 but updated for modern consoles. While I still was able to play the whole game, I was excited more to try out the multiplayer and challenge modes that weren’t in the original game and it was fun dogfighting with randos online!

Rating: 4 out of 5.Ratchet and Clank
So apparently I played the game based on a movie based on a game here. I’ve never played a Ratchet and Clank game prior to this but the writing and graphics and everything definitely gave a vibe that I would enjoy it! The game took a lot to figure out but I got it and it was incredibly forgiving. The story was hilarious too! I might have to try out some more games in the Ratchet and Clank series!

Rating: 3 out of 5.Dr Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine
Have you ever played Puyo Puyo? This is that but with Sonic. Specifically The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog characters. Are there any other games that have that specific version of Sonic in them? I’ve been watching them a lot lately and it just kind of hit the spot. A game based on a TV show based on a game….
I go back to this game a lot and although I’m not the best at Puyo Puyo, I really enjoy the game!
