Mmmmm….Pumpkin Soup… – Music Monday – October 26, 2026

I tend to pride myself on being the “I’ll listen to anything” crowd. I’ll at least try anything once. As you might have been able to tell from the different songs that I’ve highlighted in Music Mondays this year, I tend to gravitate more toward a showtune style or a pop, high energy style.

I wasn’t always so open to the songs, though. I grew up being someone who was very against country and rap. Wasn’t I surprised when I was playing Sonic Adventure 2 (probably Battle) and Pumpkin Hill Zone loads in. A groovy bass line with some quirky pizzicato strings start and someone (who I’m assuming is supposed to be Knuckles) starts rapping about “The Emerald’s power allows me to feel”

I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t know all of the lyrics to this growing up. I might have been able to pick up one or two of the verses but I got lost in the instrumental in the background.

I also growing up was terrible at the Knuckles sections of the Sonic games. I don’t care the the emerald is beeping it’s not getting any faster any direction I’m going! All that to say that I spent a lot of time in this level. The creepy pumpkins in the skybox and all of the scary ghosts and gravestones definitely gave this song a big Halloween vibe.
