oung Malawians graduating with vocational skills have been challenged to turn their knowledge into opportunities by creating jobs instead of waiting for formal employment.
The challenge was made during a graduation ceremony in Zomba on Friday, where students at One for All Technical College completed various skills training programmes designed to help them become self-reliant and contribute to the country’s development.
Speaking at the event, Jane Ansah Foundation Executive Director Yusuf Nthenda said education remains a key to success and urged the graduates, including 68 youths supported by the foundation, to use the skills they have acquired to transform their lives.
“Education is the key to success. Do not wait for employment, use the talent and skills you have learned to develop yourselves and contribute to the development of this country,” said Nthenda.
He said the mission of Vice President Jane Ansah’s support through the foundation is to see needy youths succeed by gaining practical skills that can help them create opportunities for themselves.
Senior Group Village Headman Minama commended One for All Technical College for equipping vulnerable youths with skills and appealed to Vice President Ansah and the foundation to continue supporting the institution.
“What One for All Technical College is doing is commendable because it is helping needy youths in Malawi. We ask Dr Jane Ansah and the foundation to continue supporting the college so that more young people can benefit,” said Minama.
Board Chairperson of One for All Technical College, Dr Paul Lihoma, thanked Vice President Dr Jane Ansah for supporting needy youths and encouraged the graduates to work hard and use their skills to contribute to the country’s development agenda.
The graduation ceremony saw students complete training in Fashion and Design, Electrical Installation, Welding and Fabrication, Plumbing, and Video Production.
