alawi Vice President Jane Ansah has led tributes to President Arthur Peter Mutharika as he celebrates his 86th birthday, offering prayers for his health, wisdom and continued strength.
Ansah, one of the first senior political figures to publicly honour the President on Saturday, described Mutharika as a leader deserving of God’s continued blessings.
“Happy Birthday, Your Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika. On this special day, I join your family, friends, and countless Malawians in thanking God for your life and wishing you abundant good health, wisdom, and many more blessed years.
“May the year ahead bring you continued strength, peace, and fulfilment as you remain committed to serving our beloved nation. Happy Birthday, Your Excellency, and may God richly bless you,” Ansah wrote on her Facebook page.
The birthday has triggered an outpouring of goodwill messages from DPP supporters, political allies and admirers, with many taking to social media to celebrate Mutharika’s life and political journey.
Mutharika, who turned 86 on Saturday, is currently serving his second term as Malawi’s President. He remains one of the country’s most influential political figures and continues to lead the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) as it prepares for the next electoral contest in 2030.
His administration has also overseen a decline in Malawi’s inflation rate from the levels inherited from the previous Chakwera administration, although inflation remains above 20 percent.
The celebrations have also attracted international attention. Chinese President Xi Jinping sent Mutharika a personal birthday letter and gift, a gesture the Malawian leader described as reflecting the strong and enduring friendship between Malawi and China.
