MOEST warns fraudsters targeting teaching jobs

Individuals found defrauding applicants for the advertised secondary school teaching jobs will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

This follows an alert from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology warning applicants for secondary school teaching positions to beware of fraudsters impersonating officials.

In a public notice, the Ministry said it is seriously concerned that some individuals are contacting applicants and asking them to submit application details through personal phone numbers.

“Official recruitment is conducted only through established government channels,” the statement reads.

Applicants have been advised not to share personal information with anyone using private numbers or unofficial platforms.

The Ministry said it is working with the Malawi Police Service to investigate with anyone found impersonating Ministry officials or attempting to defraud applicants.

The public has been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious communication to the nearest police station or through the Ministry’s official channels.
