olice in Chitipa have arrested two men in connection with the killing of a 60-year-old man.

Chitipa Police Station apprehended the suspects on July 21, 2026, in connection with the murder of Flaywell Sichalwe of Yanga One Village in the area of Senior Chief Kameme, Chitipa District.

Chitipa Police Public Relations Officer Sergeant Rabson Mkandawire has identified the suspects as George Kalinga, 41, and Briton Mwamphachi, 45, both from Ipenza 6 Village under Senior Chief Kameme.

According to Mkandawire, the arrest of the two suspects followed investigations into the death of Sichalwe, who was allegedly murdered on the night of June 30, 2026, at his home in Yanga One Village.

Mkandawire said Sichalwe left his home on the said night to go and drink beer, but the following morning he was found dead inside his house.

“On the said date, the deceased went out to drink beer. The following morning, he was found dead inside his house, lying in a pool of blood,” said Mkandawire.

He added that a post-mortem examination conducted by medical personnel at Kameme Health Centre revealed that Sichalwe died due to severe loss of blood.

The two suspects are expected to appear before court soon to answer a charge of murder, contrary to Section 209 of the Penal Code.

Meanwhile, police in Chitipa have warned members of the public against taking the lives of others, saying anyone found committing such offences will face the law.
