Smooth MSCE exams excite Msaka

Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Bright Msaka, has described this year’s Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations as credible and smooth.

Msaka made the remarks today during a visit to Bwaila Secondary School in Lilongwe to witness the final paper of the MSCE examinations.

“This is the final day of the final paper. I am delighted and satisfied that this year we have delivered very credible examinations,” Msaka said.

He noted that while the Malawi School Certificate of Education examinations usually present challenges, both the MSCE and the Junior Certificate of Education examinations this year were administered without major problems.

The Minister toured technical subject workshops at the school where students were presenting products made from woodwork and metalwork.

He said the displays reflected the Ministry’s agenda of identifying and nurturing learners’ talents early.

“Not everyone is going to be a professor at the University, not everyone is going to be a farmer, a footballer, or a musician. We must identify these talents early and begin to shape that child in that direction,” Msaka said.

Msaka noted that the innovative items produced by students showed deep thinking about community needs.

“I am confident that these children will not find it difficult to start a life. It is also possible that some of them will go to University to pursue technical subjects,” he said.

The Minister added that Malawi needs both academicians and skilled technical personnel for national development.

The 2026 MSCE examinations started on 29th June and ended on 24th July.
