Grief turns violent at Machinga District Hospital

A night of mourning turned chaotic at Machinga District Hospital after a Burundian national allegedly went on a rampage, damaging hospital property following the death of his wife.

Machinga District Hospital spokesperson, Wongani Nyirenda, said the man had brought his wife to the hospital for medical treatment.

However, after being informed that she had passed away, he allegedly became violent and began damaging hospital property.

Nyirenda said the hospital has launched an investigation and is currently conducting an assessment to determine the extent of the damage caused.

Meanwhile, Liwonde Police Station spokesperson Ngwashape Msume has asked the public to allow police time to complete their investigations before providing further details on the incident.
