Governance drive gets K10m boost

Malawi’s push for stronger corporate governance has received a K10 million boost through support for the 2026 Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Malawi Governance Forum and Annual Conference.

Press Corporation plc (PCL) has committed the K10 million as the event’s Platinum Sponsor, reaffirming its commitment to promoting accountability, transparency and ethical leadership. The conference will be held in Mangochi from September 7 to 13 and is expected to attract more than 600 professionals and leaders in governance, internal audit, risk management, compliance and business.

Speaking during the symbolic cheque presentation, PCL Corporate and Public Affairs Manager Rehanna Rice said the company views strong governance as the foundation for sustainable business growth and stakeholder confidence.

Institute of Internal Auditors Malawi Chief Executive Officer Albert Dambula welcomed the sponsorship, describing it as a demonstration of a shared commitment to improving governance and assurance practices in the country.

The conference will be held under the theme “The Currency of Trust: Governance as Strategy, Assurance as Proof” and will focus on emerging governance challenges, risk management, internal assurance and corporate leadership, bringing together participants from both the public and private sectors.
