Mzuzu woman is feared to have been murdered. Chilling WhatsApp posts allegedly published by her attackers have left Malawians in shock. The woman, identified as 30-year-old Rita Mkandawire, has not been seen since the disturbing messages began circulating on Wednesday.
The messages, allegedly posted using Mkandawire’s own phone, claim she has been killed. They also contain insults directed at other people and threats that her child could be the next victim if the attackers’ plans succeed.

According to social media commentator Kampanikiza, police arrested Mkandawire on 11 February 2025 over allegations involving K41 million reportedly obtained from a business associate. He also claimed officers found seven mobile phones in her possession at the time.
Police are yet to issue an official statement on the latest developments.
