alawi’s football stars Tabitha Chawinga and Temwa Chawinga have both been named in the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026 Best 11.
Tabitha Chawinga features in the attacking line-up, while her younger sister Temwa Chawinga has been selected in midfield.
The Best 11 also includes Zambia’s Barbra Banda, who joins the Chawinga sisters among the tournament’s standout performers.
Other players selected come from countries including Cameroon, Algeria and hosts Morocco, while Cameroon’s Valentine Nguelle has been named coach of the Best 11.
The recognition further underlines the Chawinga sisters’ influence on African women’s football and comes after the Malawi Scorchers made history with their performance at the tournament.
The achievement also adds to Malawi’s growing reputation in women’s football, with the Scorchers securing a place at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
WAFCON 11 means the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Best 11 a selection of the 11 outstanding players who performed exceptionally well during the tournament.
