ighty Wanderers Football Club are eyeing a return to winning ways when they host Zomba-based soldiers Red Lions at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre today Saturday.
Wanderers head coach Bob Mpinganjira said the Nomads are treating the home fixture as crucial as they look to bounce back in the 2026 Ipemelere FDH Bank Premiership.
Mpinganjira said the Nomads have struggled for results in their last three games, although their most recent outing provided a positive sign.
“We need points and we need to recover to get maximum points,” Mpinganjira said.
He said the team’s recent experience against Army sides could work in their favour, with the technical bench having a clear picture of what to expect from Red Lions.
“Army teams have given us good experience, and they play the same type of football. We have a picture of how they play. Red Lions will try to play, but we are aware of them,” he added.
Mpinganjira also expressed confidence in his attacking players, saying having players capable of finding the back of the net gives the blue camp an advantage.
The defending champions currently sit second with 26 points from 13 games, having drawn five times, the same number as third-placed FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, who also have 26 points.
The Nomads will enter week 14 under pressure to turn their form around on home soil.
Red Lions, meanwhile, travel from the old capital with 19 points from 13 games, sitting sixth on the table.
