S Khrizzy bows to public anger over Temwa song
S Khrizy has apologized over a controversial story
Khrizzy has bowed to public pressure, apologising to Scorchers star Temwa Chawinga and Malawians and deleting his controversial song.
The musician faced a wave of criticism over the song titled “Temwa Chawinga”, which many felt did not accord the celebrated footballer the respect she deserves.
In an apology, Khrizzy said he and his team never intended to disrespect Chawinga when they released the song.
“When we released the song, we did not intend or wish to disrespect Temwa Chawinga,” he said.
He, however, admitted that they realised too late that the song did not show Chawinga the respect she deserved.
Khrizzy said the song has since been removed from all streaming platforms and assured Chawinga and Malawians that a similar incident would not happen again.
The musician, who is known for his hit song “Kwakwana”, also described Chawinga as belonging to the Malawian people.
The apology comes as Musicians Union of Malawi (MUM) president Vita Chirwa says artists have the right to sing about whatever is on their minds, but should not infringe on the rights of other people.
