Former Dornier pilot to testify in plane crash inquiry

Ad Hoc Committee investigating the Chikangawa plane crash is today scheduled to hear testimony from a former Dornier pilot as it continues its witness hearings.

According to the programme released by the Parliament of Malawi, the session will focus on Dornier operations and pilot decision-making.

The committee says the objective is to obtain comparative evidence on the operational characteristics of the Dornier aircraft and the practical exercise of command and safety judgment during VIP and VVIP operations.

The committee is expected to hear from Brigadier General Juvenalis Mtende (Retired), a former Dornier pilot.

His testimony is expected to provide the committee with technical and operational insights into Dornier aircraft operations and the decision-making responsibilities of pilots during VIP and VVIP flights.

The hearing is part of the Ad Hoc Committee’s ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Chikangawa plane crash.
