27 church members have perished in a road accident
t least 27 people have been killed and seven others injured after a minibus carrying church members collided head-on with a truck in Zimbabwe.
The crash happened about 130 kilometres south of the capital, Harare, as the minibus passengers were travelling to a church conference.
Police said a large truck was attempting to overtake another vehicle when it collided with the minibus.
The impact caused the minibus to catch fire, leaving it almost completely destroyed.
Twenty-three people died at the scene, while four others later died from injuries sustained in the crash, police said.
Seven other people were injured and are receiving medical treatment.
The passengers were members of the African Apostolic Church, according to police.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. The identities of those who died had not yet been released.
The crash adds to road safety concerns in Zimbabwe, where authorities continue to investigate serious road accidents and their causes.
