The modern artist's dilemma

To art or not to art?

It is not uncommon to see, on the internet, art pieces created by people who actually work 9-to-5 jobs, unrelated to art making. This is actually my case, a public accountant by profession, but artist when in the comfort of my home.

Creating art is a way to blow off some steam, accumulated from the day job, which is stressful and hectic. It is a time of introspection and indulgence, where one can really be oneself.

Other people use this time to play videogames, or watch movies. This "me time" is essential in order to have a good mental health, after all, it's not good for the brain to always be thinking about work.

But my current dilemma is an evergreen one: how to create art when work is so stressful that it drains out all your motivation, and makes your body ache? Is there a way to conciliate both in a healthy way?

I have been dealing with this by creating smaller doodles during the day, and writing texts such as these. I believe that any creative endeavor, regardless of its perceived quality, is important for the mind. I personally believe that making something is better than not making anything.

The problem is that while doing smaller creative activities is valid and enjoyable on its own, I still do want to make more detailed artworks. Not being able to make more intricate designs due to the lack of energy is tantalizing and upsetting.

It's not easy to develop artistic ideas when one third of the day is spent on work duties and another third is for resting; So, right now, I am trying to put my ideas into motion on my days off the best as I can.

Anyway, thanks for reading this leaflet. I wrote this to vent off my current frustration more than anything, but I'd love to know if this has resonated with you in some meaningful way.
