Sunrises

love a good sunrise
Because nothing feels better
Than a whole day ahead of you
I feel it today
The cold in the air is turning mild
The birds can't hold their excitement in
I'm in love with the sound that escapes
When they awake and stretch and groan and shout
My song is playing, too
Though it's not quite time for the lyrics yet
I'm sure It'll mean something someday.
I'm still in my twenties
There's no life after youth, I know it
And for now the stubborn air
Still keeps the dew on my feet
But one day I just know
It'll be time for sunset
And my birds won't be as excited to see me.
I'm not sure I'll ever be ready.
