Creating Tiers on Fansly
A walkthrough for creating your first subscription tier on Fansly.
n most subscription-based fansites, you are locked into one base monthly subscription price. Sites such as LoyalFans and OnlyFans allow you to set one price for subscribers to access all of your timeline posts and any subscriber-specific benefits like video discounts. Fansly sets itself apart by allowing you to offer multiple subscription tiers with different benefits for each tier at varying price points. It even allows you to limit the number of subscribers a particular tier can have, which is very useful for something like a GFE (girlfriend experience) tier.
In this post, we wanted to walk you through the process of creating a subscription tier on Fansly, as well as give you some ideas and insights into the process of creating and managing tiers. To manage your tiers effectively, you'll also want to check out our post about Media Permissions on Fansly.
Fansly also has tutorials on utilizing every aspect of their site in the Creator Hub with various tips and tricks that I absolutely recommend checking out.
Go to the Creator Dashboard
The first thing you should explore when you start your Fansly is the Creator Dashboard. This is where you're going to find your subscription tiers, set up discounts and manage the settings of your page, messages and other information. Click on your profile picture to acess the menu and then expand the Creator menu to find your dashboard.
Click on Plans/Promos
Once in your Creator Dashboard, click on the Plans/Promos option to set up follower rules, subscription tiers and discounts or promotions. For now, we're focusing on tiers.
Set Up Your First Tier
You can have a myriad of subscription tiers on Fansly, but as we said in our post The 3 Tenets of Content Creation, K.I.S.S (Keep It Simple, Slut!). You can always add more tiers as your page grows but when you're first starting out, you will find that you don't need that many tiers.
My advice is to start with a maximum of 3 tiers. More than that and you are likely to get overwhelmed and burnt out much faster. Think of your tiers as levels - 1st tier is for the bare minimum at a cheaper price, an entry level tier. 2nd tier is for a bit more content at a bit higher price point, a mid-level tier. 3rd tier is for your premium content, meant for VIPs at the highest price point, a deluxe tier.
For some examples and ideas for how you could structure your tiers, check out the Fansly Tier Ideas post, which also covers some brainstorming on the types of benefits you could offer your subscribers.
The above images show you the Create Subscription Tier options. Let's look at what's available:
- Tier Title - You can be as simple or as fancy as you want with your subscription tier titles. Some folks like to stick to things like PPV Tier/NO PPV Tier or Supporter/Fan/VIP and other folks like to get very creative with their tier names with things like Lunch Date/Dinner Date or Monster Tier/Warlock Tier/Wizard Tier. Always remember that you are not locked-in to your first choice and that your tiers should be unique to you and your brand. If it doesn't make sense for your brand to have a Monster/Warlock/Wizard tier, don't use it!
- Subscription Tier Color - You can make each tier on your page a different color. It just adds visual interest to your page. It's also a great way to integrate your brand colors into your page or highlight specific tiers.
- Subscription Benefits - This is where you're going to list out all the benefits a user will get if they subscribe to this tier. From unlocking specific posts on your timeline to messaging discounts, these benefits are customizable and allow you to really sell your subscriptions. If you need ideas for what to offer, you can check out what other creators are adding, do some Google searching or check out the post Fansly Tier Ideas.
- Included Tiers - Remember earlier when we said to think of your tiers like levels. If you're a VIP, you kinda expect that you're gonna see the stuff that the basic tier gets access to. So you could include the benefits from lower tiers into higher tiers.
- Maximum Subscribers - For the most part, you don't want to limit the number of subscribers your tiers can have except in very specific cases. As we mentioned above, let's say you have a GFE Tier. You won't have the time or energy to have 1000 subscribers to a tier that requires 24/7 messaging, exclusive custom videos, scheduled video calls and a homemade care packaged shipped to them (no, this is not what's included in every GFE, just some random ideas...). In these types of cases you may want to limit the tier to 1 - 5 subscribers.
- Pricing - Finally, you will click over to the Pricing tab to set up your monthly price to subscribe to this tier. How you price your tiers is entirely up to you and what you feel your tier benefits are worth. You will find plenty of posts discussing industry standards about subscription pricing but ultimately, price what is comfortable for you. You can also offer discounts for subscribers who choose to subscribe for longer periods of time - 2, 3 and 6 months.
Tiers in Action
So now that we've gone over how to create tiers, you're probably wondering what it will look like on your page and how it all works. In this section, I am using examples from my own personal Fansly.
I've stuck to 3 tiers on my Fansly to best fit my content and brand strategy and also to keep my posting flow as simple as possible. My tiers include: The Supporter Tier, The Main Tier and my most expensive tier, The #SelfLoveSunday Tier. Each of my tiers offer 2, 3 and 6 month options with increasing discounts the longer you subscribe.
I post a lot of content free or for followers, so my Supporter Tier is essentially just a donation tier. You scrolled through all my free-ish content and liked it and wanted to show your appreciation. You also bypass my messaging fee. When a user visits my page, they can click on the tier to see the benefits of joining that tier, like so:
My next two tiers make use of Media Permissions to allow access to my content based on the tier you subscribe to. So, if you subscribe to The Main Tier, you'll get access to almost everything on my timeline but you'll be required to pay additionally for my #SelfLoveSunday videos (at a discounted price). However, if you subscribe to The #SelfLoveSunday Tier, you get those videos included in your subscription at no additional cost.
As I've said previously, you are not locked-in to your first choices on Fansly. You can change your tier benefits, title and pricing at anytime. You can add or remove the content available within each tier by adjusting your Media Permissions. And you are absolutely allowed to change your mind on how you run your page as it grows and evolves.
In conclusion:
Fansly is one of the only fansites that allows you to offer multiple subscription plans to finely tune access to your content. Using Media Permissions, you can offer your content at different price points. Tiers can also have varying benefits for subscribers. Setting up tiers is relatively easy and intuitive and the possibilities are endless and simple to change at anytime.
