Tis the season
umpkins are appropriate decor for both Halloween and Thanksgiving, unless you make them into jack-o-lanterns, and then they're exclusively Halloween. If you live somewhere cold and your uncarved pumpkins still haven't completely rotted after Thanksgiving, you can put a little strand of lights around them or maybe a Santa hat, and then they're acceptable Christmas decorations.
If you go to Meijer a couple of days after Halloween, you might get lucky and find some cool Halloween-themed socks or other stuff for 50% off. But if it's just fall themed stuff, like tea towels patterned with leaves or uncarved pumpkins, it's now Thanksgiving merch and therefore not discounted, even though they've already put out all the Christmas stuff.
It's hard to know what anything is supposed to cost anymore. I found some Halloween-themed dog toys that I bought specifically because they were half off, but was it actually a good price? No idea.
Last year there was a whole scandal about how the Reese's pumpkins were made with almost nothing that could actually be considered chocolate. It was, like, wax that had been shown cocoa from a distance or something. I don't remember exactly, but I do remember comparing the ingredients on the pumpkins and the regular peanut butter cups and it was true. The cups had milk chocolate as the first ingredient and the pumpkins had...something else.
Nevertheless, chocolate is still really expensive and I'm not sure it's worth it even at 50% off but I bought some anyway because 50% off sounds like a good deal.
