Researching and more questions...
rogress: Deep dive into how water systems work in the U.S. Traced the path from rivers to extraction to ownership and distribution. Mapped out San Diego’s specific setup: imported water flowing into three different treatment plants, each producing its own detailed water quality report within one City of SD Water Quality Report PDF.
Struggle: Knowing when to stop researching and either commit or move on. Too many ideas, and research just keeps branching. Also, I haven’t tested whether Python scripts can actually handle these PDFs yet, so there’s a looming feasibility question.
Plan: Try Python PDF extraction on the actual reports and see if it works. If I can’t figure out a viable pipeline by end of day, I’ll look into joining other groups / tabling this. The vision of aggregating water reports into a public API is still exciting to me, even if I’m not sure it actually solves a real problem for anyone. Need to answer that question too.
