iPod Classic...My Mortal Enemy

One of my favorite things to do is mod iPods.

My very first iPod was a 5th generation, also known as the iPod Video. I was a Senior in high school and adored that thing so much. I still own it, and use it, to this very day.

So, a few years ago when I realized how easy it was to mod them, I quickly purchased a few from a thrift store and started ripping them apart. I purchased some pieces and I discovered one of my favorite hyperfocus hobbies.

The 5th gen, as I had come to understand, was the easiest to open and mod. I quickly made a clear version with a clear clickwheel and 256GB storage with use of an iFlash. I adored it. So, when I was looking for something to do recently, something to tinker with because of my ADHD running fucking wild.

I recently decided to tackle my iPod Classic 6th Generation...my mortal enemy. Not only did I cut myself open (nearly requiring stitches), but it took me days to open.

Until 5ish days later when...

That little cut wasn't the original suture area, but this injury was caused by this iPod as well.

Success! It's finally open!

I was like, I'll switch my 256GB SD card over to this one since it was more new and- Well, wait. No, I own't. The iPod Classic 6th Gen doesn't support any storage over 128GB. The iPod 5th gen does, as does the 7th gen. I was quickly understanding why people hate it so much. I'm ready to chuck it out a window.

I have found a workaround, where one puts 7th gen software onto it, but I haven't tried it yet. That's the plan for this week, which I'll obviously report back on.
