At a tight 90 minutes, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" does not aim to be anything other than a shlocky low budget B-movie, and so really does excel in its core idea of a valley-girl-high-school-cheerleader-vampire-slayer-coming-of-age narrative, but your tolerance for a whole movie of that gimmick may vary. All the characters are stereotypes that would grow tiring for longer than a single feature; however, within the confines of this one film, it generally works well enough. A pretty stellar cast combined with some fun timing and dialogue keeps the script moving, which means while there's nothing particularly extraordinary about "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," it’s hard to dislike the film, as it's over before you know it.
