Alright, this episode felt a bit too pointless, even by “The Venture Bros’” standards; somehow it was only 22 minutes, and yet still felt like it dragged. The racial stuff is pretty egregious this time around too, as it seems like the show's creators thinks Asian people in particular are just funny on account of them being Asian and can sometimes speak English with an accent, so I’m not sure I really feel like breaking out the old "2004 was a different time" excuse this time around. The actual narrative of the episode is weak too, like cool, all the adult “The Venture Bros” characters all happened to be in college together, what a crazy coincidence, who cares. A rather groan-worthy outing altogether, “Past Tense” is definitely an example of an older “The Venture Bros” episode that I would be embarrassed to show to just about anyone.
