How Saudi Arabia and Turkey have quietly and comfortably adopted the Multi Sports Model
'm usually hanging out in FightinCowboy's Chat, if he's live you'll probably find me in Chat
So somebody said something rather interesting today, he said that he doesn't want to live in "the Middle East" and wants to live in the United States
Now I actually asked this person where he's from in Chat but he didn't respond
So let's break this down, the Middle East is a vague description all things considered
You could be in terrorist controlled Syria or Yemen, you could be in Saudi Arabia or Qatar living a life of absolute luxury, and actually let me take a quick detour here
Why did English became prevalent in the Middle East, especially in places like Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Oman
I don't think I have to explain to you that they're rich, they haven't worked in generations, really, Arab people from those Countries haven't worked in generations, they get migrant workers from South Asian Countries to work for them
During the absolute height of their wealth; they did not even have to do White Collar Jobs, they literally did not work at all, even White Collar Jobs were done by immigrants from South Asian Countries
So now that wealth is dwindling because as you know the world's dependence on fossil fuels is also, well dwindling
You probably don't think that Bangladesh is a wealthy Country and I'm not going to try and convince you otherwise but even we have nuclear power, we're actually going to switch exclusively to nuclear power relatively soon, we're also going to obtain our own Plutonium after that
So if Bangladesh; a Country that is not wealthy by any stretch of the imagination is going to shed it's dependence on fossil fuels almost entirely you can imagine what's going on in the Countries that are considered developed
So that famous oil wealth is decreasing and the Arab people know this, modern Arabs actually work now, something they haven't done in generations
Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Oman are also cutting off workers from South Asia, something else they haven't done in generations, like I've said already; during their height they did not work at all; period
How is Saudi Arabia planning on staying wealthy, you may have heard of a little something called the Saudi Soccer League
Now the Turkish Soccer League has historically always been one of the richest Soccer Leagues in the world and that's saying something because you know that they've always faced stiff competition from the British and Western European Soccer Leagues but Saudi Arabia came up from absolutely nowhere and has obtained one of the world's wealthiest Soccer Leagues
If you want to take yet another detour it's sort of sad how Turkey is facing West and trying to appease UEFA instead of creating some sort of Turkic Soccer Alliance, I'm sure together with Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Uyghurstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan they'll be able to form some sort of an alliance
What's really sad is that the aforementioned choose to try and appease UEFA instead of just cutting their losses and starting a Turkic Soccer Coalition
Let's route back some of our detours and go back to the point I was trying to make about Arabs having good English proficiency
It actually came as a necessity, not from the modern era as Arabs are trying to invest in Sports, it actually started during the oil boom
Obviously they had to speak English with their buyers but that's not why they're proficient in English, it's because they had to interact with their entirely South Asian workforce
There are roughly 22 distinct Languages spoken in South Asia, spanning three Contingents, one of those Contingents - the Dravidian Contingent is primordial, it doesn't descend come from Classic Akkadian, which is the case of all the Contingents from the Saxon Contingent to the Sanskrit Contingent
So outside of the Native Arab; the workforce spoke 22 distinct Languages, so there was only one realistic solution, abolish the use of all Languages other than English
That's actually why modern Arabs don't know how to speak Arabic and are instead highly proficient English Speakers
Does this mean they'll go back to speaking Arabic now that they actually have to work again and interact with each other
Well that would require any of them to actually speak Arabic to begin with
What makes it more highly unlikely is the fact that once the novelty phase of Saudi Arabian Soccer is over they're planning on turning all their established Soccer Clubs into Multi Sports Clubs which is common in Saxon and Latin European Countries and Turkic Countries
Now you might be thinking that this won't result in actual organized Leagues because it'll be very scalene because you'll have one club expanding to Basketball here and another expanding to Handball there and soon you'll have a bunch of expansion Clubs that don't actually compete in any organized Leagues
To combat this Saudi Arabia is strictly regulating what it is exactly that the Clubs can expand with
So the goal right now is to have 16 truly wealthy Clubs that can afford foreign Players, once that milestone is crossed they'll ask their 8 richest Clubs to expand to Basketball, some of which have already done so
So I can honestly see Arab People continue to be proficient in English well after the oil boom
So to route back all of our detours I want to get back to my point about the guy from the Middle East wishing he lived in the United States
If he lives in Saudi Arabia I can still see why he'd want to go, but honestly he can't complain that he has it bad
