Why Elysium making Neo Berlin is a bigger deal than it seems on the surface

So right out of the gates Neo Berlin is an attempt at replicating CyberPunk, straightforward, concept-wise and execution-wise

CyberPunk was oddly named after it's own Genre, imagine a Friday The 13th Movie simply titled "Slasher"

That's neither here nor there, neither is Elysium's total lack of creativity

Here's where they attempted to differentiate from the pre existing CyberPunk Intellectual Property; in Neo Berlin you're on the other side of the law

You play a detective, not a private detective who's in the game for the giggles, but an actual detective who works for the police

So what's interesting here is that CyberPunk was made by Projekt Red, that's Projekt Red with a K in the Projekt because they're Polish and I just gave away what I was about to reveal next and that's CyberPunk was made by a Polish Game Studio

Let me give you some context, Poland are the undisputed Leaders of Eastern Europe in most aspects and one of them is Video Game Studios

Another aspect where Poland stands out with little to no competition is Combat Sports, KSW is one of the biggest MMA Promotions in the world and in fact let me give you a list

It's UFC, MVP, ONE, KSW and RIZIN in that order

The Polish National Soccer Team is one of the best in Eastern or Slavic Europe and it's National Soccer League is the undisputed best in Eastern or Slavic Europe

Polish Cuisine is amongst the most sophisticated in the world but a lot of people don't know that because there's only so many European Cuisines people are willing to get entangled with

It's interesting that KSW is on that number four spot because Poland is number four in another aspect as well, Video Games

If you rank up the five best Video Game producing Countries in the world it's Japan, United States, Canada, Poland and China in that order

Some might say France, South Korea or even Germany deserves to make the cut which brings me to the point I started with

Germany is still one of the richest Countries in the world, in fact as of writing this it's still one of the five richest Countries in the world, it's USA, China, Russia, Japan and Germany

Here's the amusing part; don't let that list fool you, there's a big drop off after Russia

Here's where India comes in, in under a decade; India is going to take that number four spot and Germany, which has already peaked, like most Western European Countries will be knocked off the top five

It's actually a very simple concept to understand, the Indian Subcontinent has always been one of the richest Regions in the world, it's just that centuries of British Rule crippled the Region drastically, to the point of being associated with poverty when it historically never was

In less than a decade the Indian Subcontinent will simply reclaim it's place as one of the most economically prosperous Regions in the world, a decade short of a century after the British formally departed the Subcontinent

So this really wouldn't be a case of the Indian Subcontinent collectively getting rich out of nowhere, it would be a case of the Indian Subcontinent undoing the economic damage caused by British India

Here's the most incriminating part, we're not gambling, we're not in wishful thinking, we're just doing basic infrastructure that should've been here centuries ago but was never commissioned because the British Government never committed to infrastructure here in the Indian Subcontinent

Just infrastructure, that's it, that's enough for the Indian Subcontinent to be economically elite again and the fact that we're on course to economically recover in under a century after the end of British Rule is astounding

So even after India simply reclaims it's place as an economic elite; Germany will still be one of the richest Countries in the world, still top nine

So Poland isn't top nine, it's top 15, and despite that with Projekt Red paving the way and Rebel Wolves speeding on that newly paved road; Poland has become a superpower in Video Game Development

If you look at the list of the five richest Countries in the world and the five most successful video game producing Countries again side by side it's

USA, China, Russia, Japan and Germany

Japan, USA, Canada, Poland and China

So the USA, China and Japan make both lists

Meanwhile Canada and Poland are on that list despite both not being in the top nine but still in the top 15, that's sheer talent in Video Game Development that's disproportionate to economic success

If you look at this the other way around you could say that Russia isn't a major Video Game Producer at all despite the economic success

However you can't say that about Germany

Deck13 put German Game Development on the map, they were the original owners of the Lords Of The Fallen Intellectual Property, the ownership of which then went to the already mentioned Projekt Red and eventually ended up with HexWorks, the premier Spanish Video Game Development Studio

Germany would easily be top five in Europe but top five in the world is currently just out of reach but the fact that Elysium is making Neo Berlin once again reignites that Germany - Poland Video Game Industry rivalry

Maybe actually beating Poland is out of reach, Poland is one of the best in the world and that's uncontested

However Germany would make a solid argument to go in that honourable mention tier, alongside France, Spain and South Korea

In under a decade Germany will no longer be one of the richest Nations in the world and taking a slot in the top five instead would be India

In which case India would pull a Russia so to speak and not be a Video Game Superpower despite the economic success

However Germany won't relinquish it's strive to be a Video Game Superpower
