Letter to the Editor Backlink in Chicago Sun Times

I was checking my backlinks on Ahrefs when I saw one from the Chicago Sun Times. I do not recall having had a Chicago Sun Times backlink, so I checked to see what it was about. On July 1, 2026, the paper published America 250-inspired letters to the editor. One of these letters, from Harvey J. Graff of Lincoln Park, made the case that America’s true birthday falls in 1783 (marking The Treaty of Paris), not 1776.While the Treay of Paris is worth commemorating (perhaps that is in order for my America 250 Summer Season project), I would not go so far as Mr. Graff, not least because one comes away from his letter with the feeling that he would not have been compelled to submit this scorching historical take to the Chicago Sun Times had the 2024 Presidential Election gone to more to his liking. But in any event, do humbly thank Mr. Graff for linking to my 2023 research article, History of New York’s Evacuation Day, which adds a snazzy, high-quality backlink, to NLJ’s growing collection.. Evacuation Day, a mostly-forsaken New York holiday from the revolutionary era, is well worth celebrating regardless of the idenity of the current occupant of the White House at any given moment.
