here is such a scattergun reaction to the capabilities of AI and what it can genuinely do for us. All I have to do is scroll through LinkedIn...
On the one hand, you have people actually building tools and creating software with it, developers using it to speed up writing code, and identifying genuine problems & challenges where it can be useful such as scientific and medical research.
Then you have people burning through credits saying "I got Claude to make GTA V in a browser!" or "I made a computer game inside Revit!" Whilst these are impressive showcases, what next? What does that actually resolve long-term? Demos are one thing. Consistent, repeatable performance is another.
What I truly don't quite fathom are those who use AI tools to express their distaste of AI. Like using image generation to highlight what they don't like about.. image generation. "AI Posters are awful, look at this AI poster I made to explain". "Check out this AI infographic I made that says everything wrong with AI infographics". Or quite clearly using AI to write the post itself. It's difficult to see someone's side of view if they still leverage the very thing they claim not to like.
You can create fantastic work with AI. You can also create low quality work. Just like any other tool.
The truth is that despite what people might think, it still takes skill, patience and a keen eye to utilise these tools to the fullest effect. The higher the quality of the input , the better the result.
