Saudi Arabia joins the US in striking Iraq

audi Arabia has now openly joined the US in the war, carrying out airstrikes with American forces against Iran-backed militia sites in eastern Iraq on July 29.
The strikes came after Riyadh blamed Iraqi militias for drone attacks on its oil facilities. At least 20 fighters were killed, while Iran also launched missiles at US installations in Jordan - its first regional attack since the pause.
Iraq condemned the strikes as a violation of its sovereignty. This is more than another exchange around Hormuz: a major Arab state is now directly fighting Iran-linked forces, pushing the war into another country.
