The Houthis have taken an island in the Bab el-Mandeb

A day after taking Mokha, Houthi forces have captured Mayun, also known as Perim, an island inside the Bab el-Mandeb Strait at the southern entrance to the Red Sea.

The seizure puts the Iran-aligned group directly alongside one of the world’s most important shipping chokepoints. It is a further major territorial gain in Yemen and deepens the war’s pressure on the region’s remaining oil-export routes.
