What if I told you that a few “playbackers” out there, unsatisfied with Playback Theatre (PT), started to “fork” it?

—Fork Playback!?! You mean, just as some FOSS* developers will do with a software they consider being too 'bloated', too slow, not enough minimalist and frugal, and yet, too limited in features and use-cases?

—Yep! That's exactly what we are doing. And although very much inspired by our own practice of PT, the result is different enough in both ends and means to deserve another name.

Here comes Teatro-Verdad…

* The acronym “FOSS” stands for “Free and Open-Source Software”, as opposed to proprietary software. It aims at creating free/libre software —free as in “free speech”. It does not always imply the software being free —as in “free beer”.

Et si je vous disais qu’une poignée de playbackeurs en liberté, frustrés par certains aspects du Théâtre Playback, ont commencé à le bifurquer (fork) ?

— Comment ça, bifurquer le Playback ?!? À la manière de ces programmateurs libristes, qui ré-écrivent un logiciel qu’ils trouvent bouffi, trop lent, pas assez minimaliste et frugal et, pourtant, trop limité dans les possibilités qu’il offre ?

— Ouais ! C’est tout à fait ça. Et bien que nous ne nions pas être très inspirés par notre pratique du PT, le résultat est assez différent, à la fois dans ses moyens et dans ses objectifs, pour mériter un autre nom.

Voici venir le Teatro-Verdad…
