Slightly peeved

Last night I was on programming.dev and someone from the Linux Mint community made a post requesting assistance fixing their bluetooth which stopped working post update.

I spent 20 minutes writing up a great tutorial for them to use to diagnose the problem, and gather additional information in case the fix didn’t work so we could take further steps. Then they deleted their post.

New users: please stop that. Leave your post up. I guarantee you’re not the last person who’s gonna have the issue. Hell you’re probably not the only person having that issue right now because news flash, everyone gets their updates delivered at close to the same time and your hardware config is likely not very unique.

Also it makes me, your friendly neighborhood penguin who’s becoming gray in the feathers not want to offer my assistance to new users anymore. I’ve been doing this shit for 22 years and I almost never get thanks anymore. I’m not some LLM who you can just delete a chat with and will forget everything mentioned there.

I’m gonna repost my tutorial under my Guides category here so that I don’t feel like I wasted my time, maybe someone will find it useful some day.
