The state of my WordPress blog

Just want to do a pit-stop for my WordPress blog right now. Theme The theme used is Twenty-Twenty Four, a simple theme by Automattic. It does the job, innit. I tweaked the colours based on a draft of a static site template I was working on. Plugins I am currently running the following plugins: ATmosphere:...

Getting your hobbyist and FOSS Mac apps working

As a former Linux user, I love macOS for its UX but also hate how strong-handy Apple likes being in comparison to that and Windows. I decided to try and build my app, Tag Hierarchy Manager, for use on macOS by bundling it as an app. Avalonia Parcel can do a lot of the bulk...

Steam Frame too much for you? Get a PlayStation VR 2 lol

Bit of a quickie, but I've had multiple people ask me about PSVR2, given that I was an early adopter of both the headset itself (hell, I bought my PS5 for that purpose) and its PC VR support, and the price for the Steam Frame is pretty astronomical. It's a bit weird because when I...

tripleS – LOVE&POP pt. 1

https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_keT1bopQp2dyhfNj8zQPARC-_nTP8Ibeo This was a great little EP from the K-pop group (or a subset of them. K-pop groups are confusing.) All of the tracks are solid, but I have to give kudos to Sad Girls Schemin' and Type of Girl. They exude a similar energy to the 2-step track Seoul Sonyo Sound, which is my...

Unless you want OCD, stop seeking ideological purity.

A while back, Hank Green admitted to using AI, and was honest about how it had hurt his cognition. As a result, he was founded by anti-AI ideologues dogpiling him for having ever used it in the first place, particularly on Bluesky and Reddit, the latter where I saw someone justifying said harassment because it...

Little site update

I am sticking to WordPress for now. While I've enjoyed templating with Hugo and CSS/HTML is genuinely really fun to work with, I don't think I liked writing in Markdown with weird shortcodes for my website as much as I'd liked, and I still think I wanna keep it simple when it comes to writing....

Did Bhutan reactivate my Euro-tism?

So, before I get to it because I know people are going to ask: Eurovision has been trying to get to the Asian market for two decades, already. Asiavision is already trademarked. The participating broadcasters want the Eurovision brand tied to it. Israel is not in this spin-off, in fact two countries with participating broadcasters...

First impressions of my MacBook Air

So, I finally did it. I got my MacBook Air. I went for 16GB because it was cheaper, and I want to dip my toe in before even thinking about committing to the Mac ecosystem. And so far, with the few days I've had it, it's been really good, although with some big caveats. The...

You no longer need JavaScript (Lyra Rebane)

https://lyra.horse/blog/2025/08/you-dont-need-js/ I know the basics of HTML and CSS, but I didn't realise just how insanely good it's gotten lately. From a cursory glance both seem like "easy to use, hard to master" markup languages with the mastery being very rewarding. I've been thinking about making a "music talk" site with Hugo (from scratch) as...

LLMs are bad decision helpers

I want to preface this by saying I am not anti-AI/LLM, especially in the way it has manifested on social media. In fact, I'm highly critical of the movement due to how abusive the movement has gotten (especially on Bluesky and the FOSS community) and dismissive to information that contradicts their claims, and I do...

How Linux broke my backups

I try not to talk about Linux, but I have to admit, my past hyperfixation with and experiences using it may have given me plenty of stories to tell, especially now I'm done with Linux. It's like I've got a bunch of cautionary tales. This will probably end up on the desktop Linux problems post...

I may have to reinstall Windows, and it’s my fault.

So, I've been having a weird issue with 1Password on Windows, lately. Whenever I try to enable passkey integration with Windows, it will automatically switch it off. I can't even enable it in 1Password itself, either. It's like Windows does not want it to be on at all. If it was a group policy, I'd...
