Lectures on the Philosophy of Science with Vladimir Drekalović

11 and 14 May 2026 The Department of Philosophy and the Institute of Philosophy of the University of Porto are pleased to welcome Vladimir Drekalović (University of Montenegro) for two sessions dedicated to contemporary issues in the philosophy of mathematics and to questions concerning the teaching of philosophy of science. The sessions will address the significance of mathematical Platonism within contemporary philosophy of science, as well as some of the specific pedagogical challenges involved in teaching philosophy through topics in the philosophy of mathematics.

Hope, Belief, and Peace: 40th Philosophy Meeting (APF), 21 February

I participated in Round Table “Hope, Belief and Peace” on 21 February, as part of the 40th Philosophy Meeting, dedicated to the theme “Philosophy and Hope,” organized by the Portuguese Association of Philosophy Teachers (APF). The session provided a rigorous philosophical discussion on the nature of hope, its rational and normative status, and its relevance for political action and for understanding peace as a public value.

Thinking About AI Art with Dominic McIver Lopes in Porto

On February 6, at the Batalha Centro de Cinema, I had the pleasure of taking part in the Porto session of the symposium with Dominic McIver Lopes. The roundtable brought together Vítor Guerreiro, Gonçalo Marcelo, and myself, and I presented a talk titled “In what sense could AI Systems be artists?”. The discussion was followed by Dominic McIver Lopes’s lecture “AI Art and Artists: What They Are, What They Could Be, What They Should be”, closing a lively and inspiring afternoon of exchange on aesthetics and technology.
