James Hoffmann reviewing a bad coffee machine
The interesting thing about this video is not that it reviews a coffee machine that does not meet the minimum criteria of a coffee machine. What’s interesting is that it gives a lot of insight in what really matters when making a good cup of coffee. For me it starts with good beans and a...

Everything becomes source material. I have been reading …
Everything becomes source material. I have been reading an old mythogeography interview with Phil Smith. The thread has me thinking about walking, place, story, performance, and the odd things that gather around a route once I stop treating it as just a way of getting somewhere. On my own much smaller patch of ground, that...

How I’ll Take My Coffee
Simon at Firesphere.dev wrote a short post titled If you want to buy me a coffee in response to a hot take post on the IndieWeb against "Buy Me a Coffee" buttons on blogs or capitalism or something. But instead of joining the button debate, he stated what kind of cofee he would like for...

A Moka Pot Pen
I came across a blog post on Extra Fine Writing titled Check it out, a weird little pen that looks like a coffee pot. When I saw the headline on The Well Apportioned Desk, I was not sure what to expect. But when I opened the post, I recognized the pen in question as having...

Low Caffeine Coffee
Recently, while reading issue 37 of the Standart magazine, I discovered the existence of naturally occurring low caffeine coffee. That immediately sparkled some interest in me, since I enjoy drinking coffee, but I don't want to drink too much caffeine.

The Craft of Latte Art
When I started drinking more milk-based coffee beverages, I used to always be in awe when I got a cup with latte art on it. So it won't come as any surprise that since I purchased my first espresso machine, I have been attempting at doing it myself. I must say: the journey has not been the easiest.

The Standart Magazine
I've rarely bought magazines in my life, let alone subscribe to them. Recently, however, I learned about the Standart magazine, a print magazine that focus on the world of coffee culture. I felt compelled to try it out, and, luckily, they have a trial subscription.

My Current Espresso Setup
Around a year and a half ago, I wrote about my espresso setup at the time. This setup has remained almost the same during the last year, except for a few things here and here. More recently, we upgraded our coffee machine, which prompted me to write an updated post and spill the te- coffee ☕️.

Welcoming the V60
At the beginning of last year, I shared about my filter coffee setup at home. The then current setup was composed by a family of four: the Clever Dripper, the French Press, the Chemex, and the AeroPress. Every device with its own use. It's been more than a year and a half, and the family has now welcomed a new member: the V60.
