You Can Still Vote by Mail in Michigan: What’s Happening With the USPS Rule Now
Key parts of a new USPS rule affecting mail ballots remain blocked while several federal court cases continue, and the Trump administration has again asked the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene. The Supreme Court has not decided whether the final USPS rule is legal. For Michigan voters, the most important thing has not changed: you can still vote absentee by mail, return your ballot at an official drop box, and use the other voting options available under Michigan law.

Warnings About USPS's New 'Rushed' and 'Untested' Ballot System
A whistleblower is warning of catastrophic problems with the new system the U.S. Postal Service is creating for handling mail-in ballots, saying it is "rushed" and "untested." They went on to say the system could reject thousands of ballots if even one doesn't scan. MS NOW Senior Capitol Hill Reporter Ali Vitali and Founder of Democracy Docket Marc Elias join Alicia Menendez to discuss.

Yes, You Can Still Vote by Mail in Michigan: What Changed This Week and What Hasn’t
Michigan voters can still vote by mail, but the federal legal situation changed again this week. USPS says new mail-ballot requirements are now in effect, while Michigan, other states, and voting-rights organizations have filed new court challenges aimed directly at the finalized rule. The Supreme Court’s August 24 decision did not decide whether those new requirements are legal.

A federal judge has blocked nationwide implementation of mail-ballot provisions in a March presidential executive order, while the Trump administration has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene. Supreme Court Ruling Protects States’ Ability to Count On-Time Mail Ballots
On June 29, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Watson v. RNC that federal Election Day laws do not prevent states from counting mail ballots after Election Day when state law allows a grace period and the ballot is postmarked by Election Day. Nothing has changed for voters in Michigan. Eligible Michigan voters can still vote by mail under current state law, and voters should request and return absentee ballots as early as possible.
