It's only Tuesday, but my week has got off to a problematic start. Firstly, I am suffering from constipation. Three days' worth, which may not sound bad to some, but for someone like me who goes to the bathroom up to 20 times a day, this is not good. Incommunicado

For a few weeks now, I've not been engaging with anyone - not in real life, nor online. I'm just so drained and don't want to communicate at all. Choices

Received a letter from my consultant after my colonoscopy. For some reason, the team have decided not to offer Infliximab, because I had to stop treatment due to surgery. Instead, they are offering Adalimumab, with which I am unfamiliar.Again, there is reference to painkillers, with some options mentioned, but no idea as to when these are to be prescribed.I've also received an appointment with the Dietetics department at the local hospital. Pre Bowel Prep

Everyone who has ever had a colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy knows that the bowel prep you have to take up to 48 hours beforehand is the worst part of the whole process. You basically don't leave the bathroom for 24 hours. Hell, I've even slept (well, dozed) on my bathroom floor before. I have a colonoscopy on Monday. Pre-Op

Tuesday was my pre-operative assessment. Not had this as an outpatient before, so didn't realise it involved an ECG, blood tests and a 45-minute interview. Luckily, my new tumbler keeps water cold enough that I have increased my fluid intake, so the blood test was taken from my arm, and it was an easy draw.Thanks to some friends, I didn't have to navigate the buses, etc., and rocked up early. Another night of pain and diarrhoea kept me awake. Rather than do something utterly mind-numbing despite overwhelming tiredness, I decided to distract myself somewhat. "How?" you ask. Doo Doo

It's a childish title inspired by this app's creator. It is also what I have been dealing with an excess of these past 48 hours. I've literally only taken water on board, as any and all food is exiting faster than it is being consumed. I've had pain so bad that I've been taking painkillers, significant blood loss with every expulsion, and the inevitable lack of sleep as I am held captive in the bathroom. I'm beyond tired, hungry and fed up.

Insomnia
