t was a slower night than normal at the start. I had to ask my friend @HisNameIsOx to be a ‘fluffer’ for me to get the ball rolling. I often find this is a good little trick to get peoples attention; Once people see someone actually having their boots/gear worked on it prompts them to pluck up the courage to ask to be next. as a thank-you I helped condition/oil his brand new leather pants after doing his boots. As anyone who has bought a brand new pair of leather bottoms, they take a little while to break in and soften around the knees, and conditioning oil helps speed that up.
A notable John tonight was an older gentleman who last has his pair of boots worked on by a bootblack at the Backstreet before it closed. This, to my knowledge meant it was either Pete Wesco or Bootslave Law.
Finding these little threads back to those who came before is always a little special to me.
