Over the past couple of years, I have undertaken an exercise of sorts to reduce my dependence on American tech giants. Inspired by others, I thought I'd pen a short post on what services I've moved and where.

Walking Routes in the Zoniënwoud

I've been trying to find good walking route recommendations for the Sonian Forest (Zoniënwoud/Forêt des Soignes), south of Brussels and wanted to share a slightly hidden gold mine of routes I found.

I went for a walk in the forest on Saturday. Not a remarkable walk. Just the sort of potter around that is an everyday occurrence for most dog owners. Just to the south of Brussels is the large expanse of the Sonian Forest (Forêt de Soignes/Zoniënwoud), an ancient woodland that most people experience as a monotonous wall of trees passed in a car on the motorway, or from a seat in a train.

Being a Quaker?

I think I'm a Quaker? It's the best way I can describe my relationship to my faith. I say I 'think' I'm a Quaker because I'm not a member of any meeting. I've worshipped (sporadically) for the last few years in an online meeting organised by Woodbrooke, but even that isn't a 'real' meeting. Technically, it is a worship sharing group.

Entering the Atmosphere

Not an exciting post, but theoretically, this blog post should cross-post to Bluesky and exist in some way in the AT Protocol atmosphere. Maybe that is exciting!
