Warum werden immer noch PDF-Dateien erstellt?
Warum werden im Jahr 2026 immer noch PDF-Dateien erstellt? Außer wenn es primär um Druck geht, haben diese Dateien keine Daseinsberechtigung mehr, weil sie sich beim Lesen in der Regel nicht an die Größe des Displays (oder Fensters) der lesenden Person anpassen. Insbesondere auf Smartphones sind PDFs immer nervig.

Wenn ich an den Umstieg auf Linux als Designer denke, ist das Erste, was mir in den Sinn kommt, die Frage, wie ich weiterhin meine bekannten Tools nutzen kann. Viele von uns haben ihre Werkzeuge um, um Design-Prozesse im Team zu steuern und wollen das natürlich einfach weiterführen. Die gute Nachricht ganz am Anfang: Da das meiste eh Browserbasiert ist, ist der Umstieg auch hier kinderleicht. Aber warum sollte man auf einem Open-Source Betriebssystem einfach so weitermachen?

Als Designer auf Linux umsteigen – Die Hardware
Wie ich im letzten Post schon erwähnt habe, bin ich ein Mac User, der es sich sehr in seinem apfelförmigen Nest bequem gemacht hat. Ich habe dennoch nicht mit der Wimper gezuckt, als es hieß, dass mein neuer Job auf einem Linux Rechner, stattfinden wird. Mal ehrlich: Wie schlimm kann es wirklich werden? Die meisten Dinge, die wir heutzutage tun, finden sowieso im Browser statt. Und meine private Hardware würde ich einfach mitnehmen. Um die soll es hier auch kurz gehen, denn ich bin der Meinung, dass ich nach jahrelangem Rumprobieren ein gutes Setup gefunden habe.
